McFarlane Toys Batman ’66 line heats up…
The McFarlane Toys Batman ’66 line was launched in 2020 and has been a hit among fans of the original TV series. I never expected to be as drawn to this line as I am now, but my wife opened my eyes to its charm. Many people are familiar with Adam West’s character, ‘Mayor Adam West’, from Family Guy, but for older generations, he was our beloved Batman. Adam West was the first actor to portray the Dark Knight and he holds a special place in the hearts of many fans who grew up watching him on the small screen.
When the first wave of toys was released, featuring Batman, Robin, Joker, The Riddler, and several variants, I was intrigued. And then McFarlane Toys released the Batman Batcave playset and Batcar, and I was hooked. The attention to detail and authenticity in the design of these toys has made them a must-have for fans of the classic TV series.
The Batman Wayne Manor Library Playset
The release of the Batman: The Complete TV Series on Blu-ray has been met with great excitement, and it’s no surprise why. With its campy, comedic style that is a far cry from today’s more serious take on the caped crusader, it remains a beloved piece of pop culture for a generation who grew up with it. McFarlane Toys has truly done an outstanding job in capturing the essence of the original series with its lineup of toys, and the Wayne Manor Library Playset takes it to the next level.
The design of the playset is a nod to the playsets of the past, featuring a retro feel that will bring back memories of old plastic and cardboard sets. It comes equipped with all the classic accessories, like the emergency batphone and the Shakespeare bust that opens the secret bookcase, and behind that bookcase are the Batpoles. A one-way ticket to the Batcave. The attention to detail is impressive, with wallpaper, desks, a lamp, a globe, a chair, and wall hangings all adding to the overall aesthetic. The end result is a beautifully crafted playset that is sure to impress.
Batman’s Almighty Batboat
There is an ongoing gag in Family Guy where peter has a number of self-branded vehicles. Well, the origin of that gag was this series. All of Batman and Robins’s vehicles were branded as such. The Batmobile, the Batcycle (Which is being released this year as well!), and now the Batboat! Again, the designers did an amazing job recreating the look and feel of this iconic water speeder from the TV series. And the figures fit in it perfectly!
They are really starting to go deep into this line and it seems nothing is off the table. BatCopter anyone?
It’s Exclusive…
The bad news, they are exclusive to Target. No exclusivity announced for Canada so I expect to see them at Walmart, Toys r us, and GameStop. The good news is the price. They will both be retailing for $34.99 USD. And pre-orders are open now.
In conclusion, McFarlane Toys has captured the essence of the classic 1966 Batman TV series with its line of figures and playsets. The Wayne Manor Playset is a throwback to the playsets of the era and is a must-have for fans of the original series. The Batboat is a fantastic addition to the line, and the attention to detail is impressive. As the line continues to expand, there’s no telling what other iconic vehicles and characters will be added. The love for this series and its legacy continues to heat up.
