A brief history of TMNT

They’re lean, they’re green AND they’re mean!

The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles have been a beloved comic book series since they first appeared in 1984. They quickly became one of the most popular comic books of all time, spawning numerous spin-off comics, TV shows, movies, and video games.

The original comic series was created by Kevin Eastman and Peter Laird and follows the adventures of four teenage mutant turtles – Leonardo, Donatello, Raphael, and Michelangelo – who are trained in the art of ninjutsu by their rat master Splinter. Together they fight crime in New York City while dealing with everyday teenage issues. The series has gone through various iterations over the years but has remained a fan favorite for decades.

The TMNT Animated Series

The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Animated Series was a cultural phenomenon in the 1980s and 1990s. It was one of the most beloved Saturday morning cartoons of its time, with its four turtle heroes fighting crime and saving the world from evil. The show was loved for its mix of action, comedy, and heartwarming moments. It’s no wonder that it’s still remembered fondly today!

I had seen the comic at my local comic shop and caught the cartoon on Saturday mornings, But my first real introduction to TMNT was the arcade. The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Arcade is a classic. It was a hit in arcades and home consoles alike and continues to be popular today. The game features all four teenage mutant ninja turtles as they battle their way through various levels to save the world from evil forces. Players can choose from different characters, each with their own unique abilities, and use special moves to defeat enemies and complete levels. With its exciting gameplay and iconic characters, it’s no wonder why the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Arcade continues to be one of the most popular video games of all time! The TMNT Movies

The movies have featured some of the most iconic characters from the comics and cartoons, and have been directed by some of Hollywood’s biggest names. From Steve Barron to Jonathan Liebesman, each director has brought their own unique vision to the series. The first movie had a modest $13.5 million budget. Yes, can you believe that? But to this day, it is still my favorite TMNT movie of all time.

Mezco did it right!

These new figures are quite outstanding. From the articulation to the sculpts and the crazy amount of accessories, this has to be the GOAT for TMNT toy collectors! It features all four turtles in their comic-accurate design. Interchangeable heads, hands, and weapons. It also comes packaged with soft goods. The hoody has a working zipper! Soft goods are something Mezco is very well known for. Check out the images. Be forewarned, it does have a hefty price tag at $400USD. But for the number of extras they are including in this set, it may be worth it. We will have to wait and see.
