It all began with a car
Do you know what’s cool? I recently rediscovered my love for the classic TV show, “Knight Rider” and its iconic characters, Michael Knight and K.I.T.T. As cool as crime-fighting Michael Knight was, there was just something special about that Pontiac Firebird. It was futuristic, it was sleek and it was fast! I watched every episode as a young kid. One of my fondest memories was of my parents gifting me the Kenner Talking K.I.T.T. for Christmas. I loved it!
Unfortunately, the Talking K.I.T.T. and Micheal Knight figure shown in the images aren’t the originals I had as a kid. The originals went to my younger cousin who was also a fan of the show. He loved it about as much as I did. But at some point, he grew up and it was eventually thrown out.
It took a few years but I got it back!
Fast forward a few decades later. I was browsing eBay when I came across a K.I.T.T. and Michael Knight for sale. And to my surprise, it was selling for $80 US. It took me about a week before I decided to buy it. I just couldn’t pass it up.
That purchase sparked an obsession with collecting toys from my childhood, like LJN Wrestling figures, Gi Joe, and Star Wars. And you know what? It led me to start this website.
I am still collecting Knight Rider today…
Over the years, new Knight Rider merchandise has come and gone. I do my best to grab whatever I can afford. I still watch an episode here and there. They bring me back to a simpler time when there was a definite line between good and evil, right and wrong. To be a kid again.
Lastly, That K.I.T.T. and Michael Knight toy will always hold a special place in my heart. A symbol of my love for childhood memories and my obsession with toy collecting.
