Marvel Legends Spider-Man 3 Symbiote Suit

Share :

A Long-Awaited Tribute to Raimi’s Darkest Spidey

Let’s be real—I never thought we’d see this figure get the proper treatment. The Symbiote Suit from Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man 3 has been a grail for a lot of collectors, and now Hasbro has finally delivered a version that feels worthy of the moment it represents.

This Marvel Legends Series Spider-Man 3 Symbiote Suit 6-Inch Action Figure captures Tobey Maguire’s darker turn as Spidey during one of the most pivotal chapters in the original Spider-Man film trilogy. If you’re a fan of the Raimi films—and if you grew up watching those movies like I did—this is the kind of release that hits just right.

Symbiote Suit: A Brief History from Comics to Screen

Before we talk about the figure, it’s worth appreciating how big of a deal the Symbiote Suit actually is.

The black suit debuted in 1984 during Marvel’s Secret Wars arc, and quickly became one of the most iconic alternate looks for Peter Parker. It enhanced his powers, gave him unlimited webbing, and brought out a more aggressive, ruthless side.

Eventually, it was revealed to be a living alien organism—the symbiote—that tried to permanently bond with Peter. He rejected it, and it later found a new host in Eddie Brock, giving us Venom, one of Spider-Man’s greatest foes.

Fast-forward to 2007, and Spider-Man 3 puts its own spin on the symbiote saga. We saw a darker Peter, fueled by pride and anger, lose control in one of the most talked-about character transformations in superhero movie history (yes, including that dance scene).

Whether you loved or hated the tone shift, the look of that black suit was next-level. Sleek. Sinister. Clean. And that’s exactly what this figure captures.

The Figure: Design & Detail Breakdown

Let’s get into the meat of this release: the figure itself.

Sculpt and Paint Application

  1.  Spot-on likeness of the Raimi symbiote suit – The figure features that tight, organic webbing pattern etched into the suit rather than painted on. It’s not just a black repaint of the red suit—it’s a completely retooled design, and it shows.
  2. Classic Raimi Spider Emblem – Big, white, and bold across the chest and back—just like it appeared in the film. One of the best Spidey logos in live-action, hands down.
  3. Muscle sculpt is on point – You can see the sinewy tension in the legs and arms, which gives the figure a great physical presence without making it overly bulky.
  4. Matte black finish – Not overly glossy, which would have made it look toy-like. Hasbro kept it subtle here, and it was the right move. The contrast with the white logo and webbing lines pops hard under lighting.

Articulation

  1. Butterfly shoulders – Essential for Spidey poses like crawling or mid-swing.
  2. Double-jointed elbows and knees – You already know the deal. He can hit all the classic crouches and leap stances.
  3. Ab crunch & waist swivel – Nice range, but doesn’t sacrifice the suit’s sculpt.
  4. Thigh and bicep cuts, rocker ankles – Poseable, stable, and expressive.

This is Marvel Legends engineering at its best—poseable without being fiddly.

Accessories – Small Loadout, Smart Choices

Some fans might wish this came with a ton of extras, but what we get is thematic and on point:

  • Masked Head – Full symbiote-suit Spidey, with that neutral, almost brooding face.
  • Unmasked Tobey Peter Parker Head – Not an afterthought. It actually resembles Maguire more than expected—Hasbro’s photoreal tech is improving fast.
  • Web Effects (TBD) – While not confirmed in the Entertainment Earth listing, Hasbro’s been including web blasts with recent releases. Fingers crossed they sneak one in.

Would I have loved a second head with that infamous emo swoop? Yeah. Maybe even a piano. But for the mainline Legends release, what’s included fits the tone.

Why This Release Matters Right Now

Since No Way Home brought back Tobey and Andrew Garfield, nostalgia for the pre-MCU Spider-Men has hit an all-time high. We’ve gotten Tobey in the red suit, but the black suit had remained out of reach—until now.

  • This is the first official Marvel Legends release of the Spider-Man 3 black suit
  • It appeals to both movie fans and symbiote collectors
  • It’s a perfect complement to the red-suit Raimi figure released last year
  • It’s going to sell out fast, mark my words.

If you’re building out a live-action Spider-Verse shelf, this one can’t be skipped.

Comparisons to Other Versions

You might be wondering how this stacks up to other black-suit Spideys.

Retro Carded Comic Version – Classic, but brighter and more comic-styled. Totally different vibe.
Marvel Select Black Suit Spidey – Great sculpt, but limited articulation.
Toy Biz 2007 Movie Line – Good for its time, but outdated and smaller scale.
Mafex Comic Black Suit – Arguably the best comic black suit Spidey ever, but doesn’t scratch that movie-specific itch.

This new Marvel Legends release? It’s the only one that nails the Raimi version in this scale, with this articulation, and this price point.

Availability & Price

Price: $37.99 USD
Expected Arrival: June 2025
Mainline Marvel Legends wave, so it should hit most major retailers—but this one will be hot, especially after it ships.

Final Verdict – Is This a Must-Buy?

If you’re a collector, if you love Spider-Man, or if the Raimi trilogy holds a special place in your heart, this is absolutely a must-buy.

  • Faithful sculpt
  • Fantastic articulation
  • Long-requested character variant
  • Modern Hasbro build quality
  • Perfect shelf companion for the Tobey red suit

Don’t sleep on this. With Spider-Man 3 now being reevaluated by fans and gaining retroactive appreciation, this figure lands at the perfect time.
